Looking for somewhere unusual?
Well, Scotland is the place to start. Did you know that the local minister, priest or clergyman, if you ask them nicely, can marry you anywhere? Having said that, in addition to getting married on top of a mountain or deep in a pine forest, Scotland has venues in abundance to offer you. Here are a just a few ideas.
CairnGorm Mountain,
Highlands
If you like the sound of the view from the top of a mountain but don't
actually want to venture outside, then this is the venue for you. At
the top of a National Park in the heart of the Highlands nestles the fine
dining Ptarmigan restaurant. So both the food and the views will make
your mouth water!
The Tall Ship,
Glasgow
It's a sunny day and you're a bit of a sailor. Where better to
celebrate the start of your life together than the beautiful Tall Ship in
Glasgow? Have a champagne reception on deck. What a novel
background for your photos!
UNESCO World Heritage Site, Orkney
For a wedding full of tradition (see Laws & Traditions for some ideas), head to the
northerly isles of Orkney. The Ring of Brodgar will provide a
stunning backdrop for your ceremony venue. Then move onto the
reception at Skaill House, situated on the main island, is a
17th-century mansion house just 300m away from Skara Brae.
Mount Stuart, Isle of
Bute
Approximately 1
½ hours
from Glasgow Airport lies the breath-taking and fascinating Mount Stuart,
pictured above. An idea from the late 19th century, today, the key
attraction is the Marble Chapel, which glows red in the sunlight.
Perfect for preparing for your big day!
Corsewall Lighthouse Hotel, Dumfries &
Galloway
Lying on the south-west coast of
Scotland, this hotel offers beautiful sunsets over the Ailsa
Craig. Small weddings are a speciality at this unique venue where
food is of the highest quality.
